What is Cloud Computing?
Cloud computing is the conveyance of computing services to a diverse population. It derives its name from the cloud representation that contains a wide range of diagrams.
Cloud Computing has been sub-divided into three categories namely:
- Infrastructure as service otherwise abbreviated as IaaS.
- Platform as a service otherwise referred to as PaaS.
- Software as a service also abbreviated as SaaS.
Where users have chosen infrastructure as a service, they have to hire the use of the services in a wide range in the course of the rental. When using Platform as a service, consumers hire the services of servers and system software. In software as a service, consumers are required to use the application of databases and software. In order for these applications to run, the infrastructure and platforms have to be administered by the service providers. The accessibility of these services is made possible through web browsers, a mobile application or a light-weight desktop.
With cloud computing, several business ventures are able to operate smoothly and fast at the same time. There are several sectors in which this service has been applied successfully, one of them being the education sector. Interactive learning and many-to-many learning has been made possible through this service. Another industry that has embraced this revolution is the financial sector affecting specifically the resource management, centralized sharing. The information technology costs in this sector have also been reduced.
The retail industry has also not been left out of this service especially with the invention of the on- demand server computing. With the on-demand server computing service, consumers are able to organize their servers in such away that they are able to pay for what they use. Several countries have adapted cloud computing including Egypt, Australia, as well as, the United Kingdom among others. In Egypt, for example, there is a forum known as the Egypt cloud forum that was found with the main purpose of allowing the community to exchange several ideas and experiences in cloud computing.
